British Organ Donor Society
Administered by a donor family BODY covers a broad spectrum of transplant-related topics on its website, providing links to many of the sources of the information summarised on the site.
Centre for Evidence in Transplantation (CET)
was established in 2005 to evaluate the quality of evidence available in solid organ transplantation and make the results available to the transplant community. It includes the Transplant Library, a centralised resource of trials, reviews, analyses and guidelines for the use of healthcare professionals.
Diabetes UK
Diabetes UK is the leading charity working for people with diabetes. They fund research, campaign and help people to live with the condition.
Their mission is to improve the lives of people with diabetes and to work towards a future without diabetes.
About 1.4 million people in the UK have been diagnosed with diabetes. This number is set to double by 2010. Another million probably have the condition but don't know it.
Donor Family Network
The Donor Family Network supports the families of organ and tissue donors and promotes organ and tissue donation.
Give2Live
Give2Live was set up in memory of Laura Hamilton, who having received two liver transplants as a toddler, died while waiting for a third transplant in 2007 just weeks before her 21 st birthday.
Laura’s parents decided to launch the organisation to raise awareness of organ donation and to encourage more people to join the NHS Organ Donor Register.

Kids Kidney Research
Kids Kidney Research was formed, as the KRAF, by a group of people who had friends and family with kidney disorders. Although they were all adults with kidney disease, they decided to support paediatric kidney research since many would not have been in the position they were in had their conditions been treated in childhood.
30 years on it is one of the leading paediatric charities supporting kidney and urological research, helping to find cures and improve remedial care.
Kidney Wales Foundation
The Kidney Wales Foundation aims to promote improvements in the quality of, and access to, healthcare for kidney patients in Wales as well as raising awareness of the need for more donors.
Through its fundraising it has helped provide dialysis units and finance consultant nephrologists, nurse specialists, social workers and psychologists in hospitals across the whole of Wales. It also plays an important lobbying role for the renal service in Wales.
The Foundation played a lead role in the development of the 'Tell a Loved One' campaign, funded by the Welsh Assembly Government which saw nine major charities work together.
Legacy of Life
Legacy of Life was formed by Sue and Richard Cansdale after the death of their student daughter Zoë, in a road accident in 1998. Zoë subsequently became a tissue donor. Their aims are to make people aware of the breadth of transplantation and to spread the message that organ and tissue donation has benefits for donor families as well as recipients.
Live life then give life
The campaign is the idea and work of Emily Thackray and Emma Harris who suffer from Cystic Fibrosis, the UK 's most common life-threatening genetic disease.
Having already lost 15 young friends between them whose wait for a transplant was in vain and with time running out for Emily, she and Emma have decided to take matters into their own hands, launching the campaign to raise awareness of organ donation.
Rotary Cornea and Tissue Bank Campaign
In addition to the national Rotary community information programme to encourage regsitration on the NHS Organ Donor Register, Rotary Clubs in the two districts which cover an area from Worcestershire to Dorset support the Eyebank Campaign to help increase the supply of corneal and other tissues. The campaign has a dedicated version of the ODR registration form.
Royal College of Ophthalmologists
Statement, on behalf of the RCO:
The Royal College of Ophthalmologists actively supports organs and tissue donation for clinical transplantation. Corneal transplants, for instance, have transformed the lives of thousands of patients. The rights of patients wishing to donate their organs and tissues, at the time of their death, should be met in a positive and supportive manner. All College members involved with donation will be supported to ensure that the wishes of organ and tissue donors can be granted with efficiency and sympathy taking into account the need and wishes of bereaved relatives.
The Nicholas Green Foundation
When seven year old Nicholas Green was shot on holiday in Italy in 1994, his parents Reg and Maggie donated his organs to help improve the lives of seven Italians. This led to a huge increase in Organ Donor Registrations. The Greens continue to campaign on behalf of organ donation and Reg Green has recently written a book in association with United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) where he talks to 42 people at different stages of organ transplant.
Tony Ward adventures
Tony Ward is a renal patient who received a transplanted kidney donated by his brother in March 2005. He and his wife Bridget are actively involved in raising funds on behalf of Kidney Research UK. They do this through organising and participating in a number of high profile and physically demanding challenges.

Transplant Sport UK
Is a registered charity which aims to raise awareness of the need for organ donation in the UK and worldwide by staging sporting events in the UK, including the British Transplant Games, and a variety of other competitions including badminton, volleyball and golf. These demonstrate that people can have a full and active life after transplant, encouraging others to register on the Donor Register.
Transplant Trust
The Trust is the only charity in the UK to fund research across all transplantation disciplines with the clear objective to improve the lives of patients and families affected by transplantation.
