Agence de la biomedécine

Created following the introduction of the French Bioethics Law in August 2004, this French national institution has a much wider role than UKT. In addition to promoting access to organ, tissue and cell transplantation it is involved in accreditation and research, both for transplantation and assisted reproductive technologies. It claims to be the only such public body in Europe to combine the four domains of organ procurement, procreation, human embryology and genetics.

DOPKI

DOPKI is an EU funded project that deals with the problem of organ shortage for transplantation. DOPKI project aims to develop an applicable methodology that could be used to determine both, the potential for organ donation and its outcome, as well as to define the limits for an organ’s safety and quality.

European Society for Organ Transplantation (ESOT)

The society is involved in the promotion of education and research relevant to organ transplantation and the creation of scientific meetings for the discussion of clinical experience and data across Europe.

Eurotransplant International Federation

The Eurotransplant International Federation co-ordinates the exchange of donor organs across the central region of Europe, which includes Austria, Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Slovenia, and a total population of over 112 million.

Organazacion Nacional de Trasplantes (ONT)

An organisation within the Spanish Department of Health and Consumer Affairs, charged with the promotion, facilitation and co-ordination of the donation of all types of organs and tissue. Scandiatransplant

An association incorporating the transplant communities of Denmark, Finland, Norway and Iceland. Almost entirely written in Danish this site contains an interesting set of data slides.
