NHSBT trials text messaging registration

A striking new advertising campaign runs in the South West until the end of April to highlight the shortage of donated organs for transplants. For the first time anyone prompted by the high street ads to join the NHS Organ Donor Register will be able to sign up by texting GIVE to 84118.

NHSBT has teamed up with mobile response company Ad.IQ Limited to launch this pilot SMS texting.  Registration details provided by text will be sent via Ad.IQ to NHSBT for inclusion on the NHS Organ Donor Register.

To amend or withdraw your record from the NHS Organ Donor Register you can do so by calling the Organ Donor Line on 0300 123 23 23, visiting Amend/remove details or writing to FREEPOST RRZK-SHUX-SBCK, NHS Blood and Transplant, Fox Den Road, Stoke Gifford, Bristol, BS34 8RR.  People registering via text will receive an acknowledgment letter within 6 – 8 weeks.
