Kidney Advisory Group
Medical consultants representing the alliances, to which many of the renal transplant units belong, are included within this group together with representatives of other transplant units, transplant co-ordinators and other interested groups.
The organ allocation scheme they monitor has been finely tuned over many years with the aim of ensuring equality of opportunity throughout the large group of patients awaiting a kidney transplant.
A separate scheme for the allocation of pancreata either alone or together with the kidney has recently been introduced.
