A national patient based allocation scheme for combined pancreas/kidney, isolated pancreas and islet transplantation was introduced on 1 December 2010 (NPAS). The scheme allocates donated pancreases to patients listed nationally using an objective, open, evidence-based and clinically appropriate allocation system.
The National Protocol for the Assessment of Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Patients has been produced to reflect and amalgamate existing policies produced by the kidney and pancreas transplant centres in the UK and has been endorsed by the NHSBT Pancreas Advisory Group.
