Human Tissue (Scotland) Act 2006

The Human Tissue Act 2004 which received Royal assent on 15 November 2004 is expected to be implemented in 2006. The Act applies to England, Wales and Northern Ireland and, in part to, Scotland.

An Executive Bill (SP Bill 42) was introduced in the Scottish Parliament on 3 June 2005 as the Human Tissue (Scotland) Bill. The progress of the Bill through Parliament is detailed on the Scottish parliamentary website and is also available as a summary

The Bill was passed following the stage three parliamentary debate on 2 February 2006. Having received Royal Assent on 16 March 2006 it was published as the Human Tissue (Scotland) Act 2006.
